random grey’s thoughts

i’m rewatching grey’s for the 4th time (it’s a good “in the background”/fall asleep to show), and i just realized this time around that my love affair with it hath dwindled A TAD. i mean, it’s still a good show – but the golden lining kind of faded away with certain relationships/characters. the first time i watched it, i hadn’t told anyone i was watching it. i felt like it might have been a fogey show – maybe my mom watched it – i didn’t ask. i actually loved it and i didn’t have any type of biased shit hovering it from others. once i told my work wife ricardo that i was watching it, he made fun of it and bashed it. he thinks the show is just all about sex/relationships and i was like, um, no. on my 4th watch, i see it what he’s stereotypically saying now (although he’s still never seen it). i feel like the show could do without a lot of that sappy bullshit. i think later in the series that tapers off better, even though there are still relationships.
the relationship between derek and meredith is actually annoying the shit out of me this time. during this rewatch, during the first few seasons, it even diminishes ellen pompeo’s acting talents and makes her more annoying than “human”, for me. i always thought of her as strong, especially since i’ve watched the series and know what she’s been through, so maybe i’m looking at it through the wrong glasses. her mother on the show, was so strong that i as a viewer assume meredith is also supposed to be, especially because at the start of the series, she seems like she’s so defensive about her feelings and who she lets in.
derek is an annoying twat, and while in the end i do end up loving him/them together, he’s really annoying at the start. i guess i just forgot how annoying.
whenever i watch grey’s, i am reminded of exactly how much i don’t cry because of how much i DO cry while watching this show. shonda knows how to work my heart strings.
while i’m entering season 7 (i actually really don’t love this season), i would like to note one of the best episodes is this creepy ass one where the active shooter guy gets into the hospital. it’s a really dark episode and it’s a two-parter at the end of season 6. i mean obviously you’d need to know certain characters to really feel the impact of the episode, but it’s creepy and entertaining. i guess i have a thing for creepy hospital shit (halloween II 1981 is my favorite halloween franchise movie. funny enough, the hospital from that movie is on the same VA hospital grounds as the main hospital used in grey’s, lol – so weird).
wtf is this random ass review? i dunno, i’m just talking out of my ass as usual. i’ve been bored AF bc i’ve had bronchitis all week and have been laying in bed watching tv (when i wasn’t making new wallpapers for y’all).
if you wanna give the show a whirl and know nothing about it… it’s worth the watch!
