after i had posted earlier today, i was thinking to myself… “why do i still have a website (/blog)?” the term seems like it’s almost obsolete in terms of personal websites or blogs. i’m also going to be 37 this year… but that’s a dumb reason to stop doing this. i have some weird fixation and anxiety that people need to “grow up” at some point. like i will just magically give up dying my hair, getting tattoos, dressing like a 13 year old sk8r boy or using this website. i mean, i don’t want to get married nor have kids, so do i even have a growing up point? newp.
i’ve been doing this since the late 90s, and i don’t like NOT having one, whether i commit to posting to it or not. i gained so much inspiration and a bunch of friends bc of these types of websites over the years. i guess part of me keeps going in case people do the same with me. random online friends came about that way, so why not? i can see in my stats that people still come here, even if they’re not interactive (i know, it’s not exactly a wall or an instagram comment, so you clam up), so i guess i just keep going. it’s also quite therapeutic in a way and helps articulate my thoughts better.
my ex once told me that he thought i was a “public figure” or something of sorts on here. i kind of find that funny/weird, but i know what he meant. maybe i’m not relevant in a circle of bloggers or webmasters anymore, but it’s okay. i like having a site like this available to people just like when i actually find one that still exists.
i love (harmlessly) going through websites. between seeing other people’s interests and recommendations, and just relating issues to other people’s, so you don’t feel alone in this shitty world, i appreciate these types of websites. for me, it’s not about making myself seem cool, getting attention, etc. – if you had this type of a website, i’m sure you’d understand that. it was mostly about the layout/design work, the coding… etc. – the content is the last thing i think we worried about. i think our mission was just being ourselves and like finding people we can relate to. we’re not all just narcissists.
i don’t post as much anymore bc i had (or probably still have) an online stalker. no matter how mild of a stalker she was, i don’t want her to know what i’m doing or where i am, so i no longer post about stuff like that. it kind of blows, but it’s the reality that comes along with this caca. it makes me want to use tumblr more (even though i don’t), at least for the images, so i can talk less about myself (although i don’t really talk much about personal shit here anyway).
i don’t design like i used to with extravagant layouts, and i refuse to budge this amazing myspace layout, so i dunno what to do with this anymore. i know this layout probably just looks like classic myspace to you guys, but it’s customized so much. the ads at the top, everything in the sidebar, the top friends area is all custom coded on the admin side so i can easily add and not have to code anyone in manually… it’s way more impressive on the back-end that you’ll never see. FYI: i had to restructure this entire site solely from classic myspace images via google. sometimes from really shitty small images. so yeah, #nerdalert
i really want to finish a project/zine-ish type thing that i started that’s all designed in web 1.0 like back in the day. maybe in 2019.
i don’t think i really had too much of a point, just blabbering on about nonsense as a blogger does…
thanks for swinging by, i guess.

i am soooooooooooo fucking lazy. i bought a donny miller skateboard deck about a month ago with no parts. i honestly really didn’t know wtf i needed to buy, and i didn’t want to get ripped off, so i put off buying anything. i haven’t hooked up with my friend that i asked to help me build the damn thing, either. i’m a lazy jerk. look at how sexy it is, though:
i love donny miller so much. he always hits the nail right on the head. that’s actually in a book of his that i own, and to the right of the board is a donny miller tattoo. yes, i love his art THAT much. go check him out if you’ve never heard of him.
the only time i’ve ever been on a skateboard was when i was dating my first boyfriend in high school. i have no idea what made me want to set this goal for myself, but i did, and i really hope i don’t kill myself on it. i have to get off my buns and get my trucks and wheels and stuff. i haz failed “go skateboarding day” 2018. 😐

apparently, the theme for my halloween decor this year is OVERSIZED.
i’ll post some pictures when the house is finished… last week i was stuck on the couch with bronchitis and decorating just wasn’t in the cards.

why the hell did i throw out all of my old platform vans?!?!?! i want a pair so badly… this is all i ever wore in high school (aside from shelltops) :((((
October 2nd, 2015 @ 11:32 am
upon shopping around for all hallows eve, i’ve realized that (as with most things i actually purchase) i am picky as fuck when it comes time to spooky decor, especially skeletons and skulls.
target, pyrex, pier 1 and spirit halloween focused on, and put out all of this bullshit sugar skull/dia de los muertos stuff this year. i don’t know why, but i have a hatred of it when it’s not authentic… i also keep finding (and cringing at) anything that says “drink up witches”, things that say “fright night/oct 31.” on it (wtf?), and anything with skulls with crossbones. i don’t relate skulls/crossbones to halloween at all, and find them extremely lame to begin with. they just remind me of pirates, and i never understood the fascination people had with pirates (especially in the mid 2000’s – it was like a thing).
skull and crossbones are only acceptable when they’re on poison bottles, or the crutches version logo for jackass.
back to the matter at hand… target is the worst offender this year. so much of their stuff is coloured to dia de los muertos colorways, and that’s not very halloweenie! target also has skulls covered in spikes and studs (UH… WHUT)?, ugly skulls with TINY jaws and large heads (example 1, example 2), this bowl that just made no sense, bc you can’t see both hands at once, and most of the candles were just fug.
i miss target halloween decor circa 2002/2003… thankfully i still have a lot of it. including my two 3′ tall plaster candy dish dudes (their heads are where you put the candy ♥ …as shown below).
i’m still on the prowl, though. there is hope yet… i haven’t hit every store 🙂
lauren and i are decorating the apartment tomorrow, after the mets game (if it doesn’t get rained out). i shall def instagram. 🙂

almost 20 years later, and still one of my favorites… ever. ♥
September 23rd, 2015 @ 4:13 pm
so recently, i thought to buy a pair of these jammies… i haven’t purchased a new pair of navy or black ones sinceeeeeeee…. 2005(ish)? they were my raver jams back in the day. they’re super comfy and match with everything and are appropriately named (*classic!*)… but was confused as to their current cost.
i used to buy these at modell’s for $20 because nobody wore/wanted them… i just found them on the reebok website for nearly $60. are they back in style or something?
September 23rd, 2015 @ 11:34 am
that shithole of a season, summer, is finally gone! in the excitement of it all, i treated myself (and my seester) to a new mikey/halloween scarf! i almost bought the sweater, but then reminded myself that i fucking hate regular sweaters… also: it was $85 – FUCKKK outta here. although $40 is kind of pricey for a scarf, it’s also something i’ll wear A LOT during the winter, and the quality/length is awesome (giggity)… most definitely worth it.
also upon us: HOCKEY SEASON.
i made steve hang these sweet little floating shelves for our small/random hockey shit. i figured it all being near the little sign that i made was pretty appropriate. it’s also the thin space between windows, so it filled it perfectly. our lil living room is getting cuter and cuter by the day (and cluttered – need more bookshelves!).
i’m dying to get the halloween stuff up in the apartment, but i want to wait until october 1st. it’s still hot out there, and doesn’t truly feel like fall just yet anyway.
🙂 this season makes me feel so refreshed and happy. new wonderful things have been aligning at the same time, which is wonderful *thank you, universe!*. >:) old friends keep popping up, creativity has been flowing, strolling around aimlessly for hours in cool autumn weather is upon us, hoodies, road trips, warm lattes, cold beer with warm pretzels, hockey, ahhhhh! i love love love it! i only wish that it lasted as long as our miserable NYC winters do… 🙁

i haven’t posted with an update about the deodorant > primal pit paste switch since november – i wanted to be fair with the timing. for a lot of people, their pits have to detox, and i wanted to make sure i gave it adequate time to see if i would or not, and the outcome afterwards with some time.
i didn’t go through detox *WOO!*, butttttttt i did feel the effects of high ph balance of baking soda. i would get SUPER itchy (SOMETIMES) after applying it, and my skin would get red and would have a burning sensation if i applied it directly after shaving (lesson learned). i started shaving my pits at night (that’s usually when i shower anyhow) and waiting to apply in the morning, which i thought was plenty of time. apparently, that is not the case – but it’s not all of the time, but i wasn’t in the mood to deal with finicky a product. i didn’t realize i could get a lighter version of the primal pit paste that i was using, and i hated the red discoloration of my skin, so i switched over to EO organic deodorant.
EO doesn’t have baking soda, which was good for me – but it’s a spray vs. something you rub on. it’s oil based, and i find it’s irritating to have wet pits that you have to wait to dry (so it doesn’t get on your clothing). i also hate that you have to reapply later in the day. i’m a stinker vs. a sweater, so i definitely have to (and do not want to). i didn’t have to deal with that, with primal pit paste AT ALL.
the EO smell isn’t horrible, but it just reminds me too much of my lavender dr. bronner’s soap, which i ditched over a year ago. no offense to anyone into that natural/organic/oil/hemp/etc. smell, but i was sick of smelling like a hippie, so there’s also that.
i purchased a lil tub of the light lavender vanilla PPP, and i’m hoping for the best. i really want to go back to PPP without dealing with the irritated/red aspect of things.
i really don’t want to be THAT GIRL pushing products, but seriously – it’s good stuff. i never want to go back to regular deodorant! if you’re thinking of switching, click here (A – you’ll get 15% off and B – i’ll get reward points, woo!). i started out with the smaller/sample jar and it lasted me 2/3 months, so you should totally go with that, just to see if you like it.

as soon as i started making dreamcatcher earrings about a month back, i had to start packing up my apartment to move. now all of my supplies are packed and i can’t wait to get them all out and take over the lobe-filled world!!! spring and summer are coming, so i’ve been working with super colourful and fun hues.
here are the last few pairs that i had made…
i also always have new rings in the works… these bad boys are my new favorites (below).

is it okay to blog about dumb shit likeeee… about which TOMS i just purchased?
the pressures of consistent blogging are so silly (also: in my own defense, i’m pretty boring). i really miss going through endless blogs online and keeping up with amazing, inspiring people. tumblr and instagram have made us all lazy… i don’t want to look at posts only containing pictures, i want words.
all of my go-to blogs haven’t been updated in 1-3 years and i find that very discouraging. i think to myself “posting about shoes you just purchased is a waste of a post”, but is it really? maybe not. maybe someone will like these shoes and also go purchase them (maybe not).
whatever, at least you know i’m alive and being “stylish“. #AMIRITE

soooooooooo back in the late 90’s/early 2000’s(?) i used to use this shampoo/conditioner oasis line from vo5. the interwebz says that it’s lavender and chamomile, iiiii just always say “the purple one”, AND IT SMELLED SO DAMN SCRUMPTIOUS. i used to just leave it on my arms to marinate for a few minutes and then rinse it off so i smelled like it, i had always wished there was a body wash to go along with it… it was that good.
of course vo5 discontinued this item for whatever reason, so i thought i could no longer smell my favorite smell again like, ever… UNTIL NOW.
i was browsing CVS for my favorite drugstore body wash the other day, but instead of just grabbing the one that i always use, i sniffed around… i lived a little. i then found this. it smells JUST LIKE the oasis purple jammy, even if the bottle says “tea rose blossom and almond essence”, TRUST ME… it’s the purple vo5 smell!
this seems like a super random/strange post, but i hope it helps some other lady out there someday. there are some smells that are just too good to let go of, lol.

i don’t know what to do with my hair!!!
i want to go red again (all over) and dye the front/left or maybe the entire front section/bangs teal, and i’ll probably do the tips black, that’s how i had it the last time.
BUT then again, i just bleached the front/left section and now it’s just waiting for something. more bleach? a colour? right now it’s my natural dark brown all over with the front/left and half of my bangs bleached, with some old green showing through, so it’s minty… i was bleaching my bangs so that i could get all of the summer blue out, and i was going to do enchanted forest again. lie locks has been pulling at my heart strings though.
do dark green and fluorescent purple go together?
of course, why am i even wondering?
then i’m thinking, well if i don’t go red again, should i just go black again?
black, fluorescent purple, white and dark green…

back in 1992, i hung out with this cool chickadee named suzie. i’ve known her since i was like 8 or 9, and we went to elementary school together for many years. it wasn’t until she graduated a year early and left for intermediate school, that we started hanging out (here in NYC, it’s kindergarten-6th grade and then 7-9 (JHS), unlike most other places that are K-5 and then 6-8 and then high school).
anyways, with her going to a new school, we started hanging out, outside of school. summer vacation, weekends, we’d watch TGIF, play on my babysitters block (where she also lived) and had tons of sleepovers… i remember we used to have a secret club, and we’d go to the beach with her mom, and most importantly… we’d play with our legos.
i don’t remember which was my first set, but i do remember one of my first sets was pool side paradise set. i remember after i discovered that there were sets like that (ones that weren’t all just red/yellow/green bricks), i was *obsessed*. i got a bunch of those, and then i started adding in the POLICE lego sets, because they had high/tall lego pieces and awesome/modern windows.
as i was growing up, my mom was trying to become an interior decorator on the side. she got all of these different design/decorating magazines that i would sit and sift through for HOURS/days/weeks at a time.
it was the early 90’s, and i was obsessed with built-in/lacquer furniture (even though i didn’t have it) and modern style. i was constantly re-arranging my room and putting my furniture together to try to mimic that type of design, since i had to make do with what i had… (view commericals // 01 02). the magazines had floor plans and layouts and i started drawing up my own. i was constantly drawing up dream houses and started building them in lego form. i also got really into frank lloyd wright that year (i still even have a few books on him, and his works).
i don’t know where i went wrong, but i fell off of the architecture-dream-future wagon, i think it was because i was horrible in math and really just wasn’t a book-confident kid. i guess i was just always more of a street-smart kid.
i STILL collect legos and even have some of mine from 20 years ago. mainly smaller sets and minifigures, because my apartment is too small at the moment for displaying cool/large sets. funny enough, lego released frank lloyd wright lego sets (which i do NOT own, yet?). i think it’s super cool seeing your interests come together that way.
in closing, i thank suz and mom for leaving me with interests that still hold strong, 20 years later.
funny enough, i just found suzie on instagram again recently (i forget how), but she still also has lego interest going on. she has a few big pirate ships hanging out on top of a book case, and she also built a light house that even lights up, lol.

i have been thinking about how i don’t really market #JAEJESS products enough. i’m always thinking about how we should have a twitter and/or at least a facebook for more exposure. We started this whole thing on instagram, so that’s the only place that we’ve been doing any type of marketing.
if you follow me on IG, you’d see a lot of the stuff that i’ve been doing post-pop-up shop has been wu-tang related… it’s my biggest seller (i mean c’mon, it’s the wu…), so i’ve been trying to have more options for people where the clan is concerned. i made some black and yellow earrings and started creating some cool pin combos for earrings.
i have only posted seven pairs on the site so far, but one is actually a templated pair of hoops and you get to choose which pins you’d like… there are ten to choose from at the moment. i feel like it’s kind of OD and i want to start posting other stuff that i’m making also, but i want to get these wu-tang earrings out there in the world.
click here to see the ones that i currently have in the shop.

i haven’t been impressed with lesportsac since this time, last year… but yet again, they have seriously captured my interest with the upcoming winter products.

the purple manoush tote instantly reminded me of one of my favorite graff chicks elle (i fell in love with her cursive tag).

sooooooo i went to salt lake city again last week! and on this trip, one of my goals was to hit up most of the filming locations for halloween’s 4, 5, and 6. on my adventures, i found a lot of them, but not all (a post soon to come…). i am totally happy with what i got to see, and once i started posting the images on instagram, i started tag surfing and found amazing halloween 4 t-shirt… it’s michael’s face from the film cover/poster of 4 with jamie dressed in the clown costume.
so of course, as soon as i got the chance to look online for the shirt i did (because i’m great at finding things with keywords and such), and randomly found this shirt, instead…
i grabbed this image out of an old beautiful decay issue (2005?) for collaging purposes and threw it on my old headboard when i lived at my moms house (now it’s on a wall in my apartment, but i couldn’t find a picture of it there…). one of my friends once told me that it was his friends company, and i never thought to ask which one, so i never bought it, and now i can’t find it… i neeeeeeeeeeed it.
also: in search of this shirt, i found a dude on karmaloop modeling this brands other shirts, that looks like a young latino version of johnny depp. LE SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON. 🙂 [view the dreamboat]
September 10th, 2012 @ 1:41 pm
soooooooooo, i never want to grow up… if you know me in real life, you already know that i avoid most adulthood things like the plague, so it’s weird for me thinking about future stuffs (marriage, kids, etc.). i guess turning thirty last year, i guess it’s kind of a wake up call. like, HELLO, idiot, you only have a decade left to get married/have kids so that you’re not a super old weirdo mom. additionally, i’ll prob never live to see my 50th anniversary with my future husband, lol.
i still feel like i’m 21, i still basically look like i’m 21… i don’t know when the feeling is going to officially kick in.
July 28th, 2012 @ 8:11 pm
…my week in pictures.
lauren and i decided to get together on thursday night for shopping and some after work drinks. we also decided to do this right before a huge storm brewing over NYC… this was just moments before shit hit the fan and we ducked into the bowery electric for cover.
July 18th, 2012 @ 11:22 am
how cute are these bowls?! $50 a popp! though…
i found them on my hunt for a kitschy new shower curtain.
June 18th, 2012 @ 11:33 pm
maybe it’s wrong of me to instantly get defensive and pissed when i discover people selling shit that EERILY resembles other peoples creations… but sometimes it’s just so fucking frustrating because of how obvious it seems (is). i have NEVER found copying off of other people “flattering”, and it infuriates me especially when i see my favorite designers being ripped off.
in this posts case, we have two of my favorite jewelry designers that have been totally (seemingly) jocked.
March 13th, 2012 @ 12:15 am
okay, my computer is up and running again. i thinkkkk (since i don’t often download things) that i got this nasty virus from trying to view illegally streaming hockey games online… stupid cable provider and MSG didn’t want to cooperate financially for a while, so they were blocking out my ranger games… since i don’t watch much TV anyway and it’s almost the end of the regular hockey season, i cancelled cable and was relying on the bad stuff to watch games.
served me right, i suppose :\
my boyfriend and i went to florida and back since last i posted 🙂
i made some earrings and did my nails a few times… as per usual… (i lead a super exciting life in the winter, ey?)
my website to sell my earrings is almost done, so i can begin selling them! i haven’t been posting them here at all, i’ve been posting them up on instagram… sorry!
here’s a sneak peak at a few of my favorites so far 🙂
all i’ve been doing is catching up on work since i got my computer back, so i’m off to do that a little more… bartering for a tattoo for a website (via my friend kelly who also did my misfits skull), and working on a wedding website for my cousin getting hitched later this year… so farewell for now. thanks for reading this, if anyone even bothers to, lol.

[my week in pictures]
i’m going to try to remember to do this weekly, as well as my nails (which apparently, i forgot to do already seeing as it’s thursday night vs. monday at any point). these are whatever rad/important things that i managed to remember to snap last week. (mainly from IG – sorry if you’ve seen them already…)
the doors – riders on the storm, appropriately came on during a rainy day.
