i have no idea why i waited so long to do this, but i finally just figured out how to cut my starbucks drink price in half.
if you too drink iced lattes, and unknowingly have been suffering from overpaying the man, read on and thank me later. if you’re a regular coffee drinker, i guess you’re already paying a decent price.
sooooooooooooo… my morning iced latte preference has always been:
venti, iced, white chocolate mocha latte, no whip, 3 pumps.
i was thinking to myself one day, “if i remove 3 of the pumps, it doesn’t lower the price… but if i ADD pumps, it adds to the price”, and that pissed me off. i was like, there has got to be a way to remedy this situation.
now listen, i know a lot of people think starbucks = gentrification and overrated coffee, etc. – you’re out of your minds. i mean, i’m not a coffee connoisseur by any means, and i don’t go out of my way to go to those bougie ass spots like blue bottle, or whatever… i HAVE been to them. i just have never been so impressed that i’ve been inspired to switch off of the ‘buckles.
starbucks is certainly not HORRIBLY GROSS BAD CHEAP OVERRATED tasting coffee. i think it depends on what you’re drinking from them. they don’t just have ONE drink. haters just gon hate… and you know what? here in NYC, it’s either just been a diner, coffee cart or dunkin donuts for decades. everyone was completely fine with that, but i really love espresso. i want my damn lattes, and dunkin SUCKS at that (i still give them business for food, though. starbucks def. sucks in that department).
i provide a nice balance to both places, but i digress…
i do kind of find paying for extra flavor pumps, but not decreasing price when i remove them, to be bothersome. also, my co-worker denise pointed out that i basically am just drinking a large cup of milk. how did this never occur to me before? so i started buying grande lattes, but it’s not much less in price. i think grandes price at $5.42 or something. tall is too small, so i was like “there HAS TO BE a better way to do this”.
venti, iced, white chocolate mocha latte, no whip, 3 pumps = $6.15
i had an epiphany on monday. i thought to myself, “remove the milk”.
i ended up ordering an iced doppio with 2 pumps of white mocha in a grande cup and i added my own milk.
the new price? $3.32
i have been paying double the price FOR FUCKING MILK for like 11 years. i mean, better late that never, but my god, i am an idiot.
anyways, i hope it helps someone out there, lol.
