so i just got back from california again, and i got to hit up a few more halloween filming locations while i was out there. all of these locations were around the same area in south pasadena, so it was easy to kill a few birds with one stone.
the myers house. (1000 mission street)
this house was originally located a block or so away from where it is now. there are condos where the house used to be (across from the elrod house). i think it’s pretty insane that you can move a house, but i’m glad they kept it in tact and didn’t just tear it down.
the house is now home to offices, and on the front door they asked that we didn’t go up on the porch and what not. i took a couple of quickies, and kept on truckin’.
THE HEDGE. (1019 montrose avenue)
arguably one of the most iconic michael myers shots, i visited the hedge. if you’re not a big halloween fan, it’s from the scene where laurie and annie are walking home after school.
the strode house. (1115 oxley street)
one of my stops was laurie strode’s house (jamie lee curtis’s characters home). the owners of this house were way cooler than the people that run the myers house. they provide prop pumpkins for you on the front porch, and pictures of how laurie was sitting/positioned in her iconic halloween 1978 shot. it’s gotta be annoying sometimes to deal with fans like that when it’s where you live, but i guess you know what you’re getting into when you buy a house like that. again, definitely cool owners for letting us fans do this.
my so called life:
the chase house (1115 glendon way):
when i found out this was near the halloween house, i simply HAD to go visit. there were no trespassing signs all over it and it was empty. i guess maybe someone was in the process of moving out/in? steve told me i wasn’t allowed to go stand on the porch or anything, so this is the only shot i got to take. 🙁
the chase block (the infamous shot from the end of the intro):
the last time i went to california, i really wanted to get to this block and recreate the shot at the end of the MSCL intro. i didn’t get there at the right time of day, or am i half-transparent, lol. so without an actual photographer, this was the best that i could do…
last minute/bonus house!
pee wee’s house! (1846 oxley street)
NO i didn’t go around the side to punch in the code for the hidden garage for my bike… lol. i was super psyched to see this, though. my cousin marie and i must have watched that movie 973937937 times when we were kids. i just so happened to remember at the last minute that it was right there.
