mom things

i’m not a mother yet… WELL, technically i’m a cat mommy, but i find that just sounds creepy and/or cat lady-ish. i don’t like to lump myself into that category, and i most certainly do NOT think that oscar is actually my child, lol. i don’t throw birthday parties for him, either. that’s just another thing to add to the list of “i don’t fucking get it”… pet birthday parties. :eyeroll:
okay, let’s not get sidetracked.
working here at this mom-based website has me reading articles and comments that the users leave and i’m astonished a lot of the time. women are so damn catty and curse at each other over nonsense, like SERIOUS raging anger. talking about anything related to kids should be lumped into the general rule to not talk about religion/sports/politics. it’s so funny how women also like to play the “you’re not a mother, so you shouldn’t have an opinion” card. :EYEROLLLLL:
listen, I GET that one should not have an opinion about someones specific parenting/child, but it’s human nature to have an opinion. generally speaking, the general public is also VERY DUMB. once they start having kids, you can’t help but feel like “WTF ARE YOU DOING?!” at a lot of the things that they do, especially when it’s in your face… online or in public. either way, if you’re sitting on a website publicly bashing other women, i’m pretty sure that you’re lumped into that bunch of the WTF’s… especially ones that can’t spell basic words in their hate comments.
i was reading an article about whether this one baby should be taken trick or treating or not, and it wasn’t even 6 months old yet… like, HELLO…. it can’t even eat the candy… ಠ_ಠ
— this is where my WHY DO PEOPLE NOT HAVE COMMON SENSE?! anger kicks in.
— this is also where the “YOU DON’T HAVE A KID YET, YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT UNTIL YOU GET THERE” influence/thing kicks in (actually MOMS, i will not be doing these things even when i get there, if i get there).
i was just saying the other day, i do not for the life of me understand why people bother to do anything overboard before kids are walking/talking and/or two years old. the kids have no idea what’s going on, and clearly whatever the parents are doing is for themselves.
i was saying the other day was that i have no idea why parents have HUGE birthday parties, usually at rented restaurants/halls for their kids first birthday… the kids don’t remember it, and they’re too small to walk or talk or have fun. sure they’re sitting there flailing like a cute flesh blob getting cake EVERYWHERE, but that’s it. they get presents and they don’t even know what to do with them, they don’t know how to unwrap things. they get a cake with candles, they don’t even know how to blow them out. most kids are scared as fuck at that point… so no, i don’t get it.
like, i get that if you have a baby and dress it up around halloween you want to show it off. so go walk around, who cares? why do you have to label it as trick or treating? must that even entail taking peoples candy? why is there candy involved? the kid can’t eat it, are the parents eating it? i’m 32 years old and loathe paying $10 for a sort of large bag of candy, but i don’t go out trick or treating taking away from kids to replenish my own stash. i could totally pass for some type of teenager if i dressed up, but like, that’s weird.
smh.
