hockey rivalry at its finest

some of my coworkers have their kids in the office today… it’s cute, they’re running around and giggling and stuff. there were three kids in the employee lounge eating lunch and watching cartoons, and one was wearing a boston bruins shirt. he must have been between ages 8-10. so of course i had to chime in.
here’s how it went down:
me: are you really a bruins fan?
kiddo: yeah…
me: who’s your favorite bruin?
kiddo: lucic.
me: this face.
kiddo: oh yeah? well who lost 4-1 in the playoffs?
me: ಠ_ಠ whut? (in disbelief of what was being said)
kiddo: who lost 4-1 in the playoffs? (it was repeated, aggressively)
me: how do you know what automatically know what team i root for? (biting my tongue to not say “well who lost 4-2 to the blackhawks in the finals?”)
kiddo: well you made a face like you don’t like lucic, so…
me: are you from boston? (quickly changing the subject, while feeling infinitely defeated by a child)
kiddo: no, but my mom is – she’s a bruins fan, so it’s a family tradition now.
me: ah okay, just wonderin.
then his friend next to him asked me my favorite football team, i said i like the giants and the jets. he agreed with me.
then i went to my desk to eat my subway sammy.
i feel defeated by a child.
