first off, i hate the term “tween”, but i’m using it because it is an accurate term used via this article…
okay the whole hair removal thing… i 10000000000% agree that tweeny eyebrows should be taken care of… case in point, the image below… my eyebrows were about this FULL from ages 9/10 moving forward, until the ripe age of 16 (when i decided to go behind my mothers back and wax them fuckers down). my mother is always going on and on with “you were so beautiful” and “you were a natural beauty”, but come on… seriously? they were horrible. and once i hit junior high school, them shits should have been taken care of. i mean, junior high school is when all the social shit really kicks in. first kisses, first boyfriends, dances, etc… she couldn’t help me out? even today first thing out of her mouth is shit like “brooke shields eyebrows were full and beautiful”… um, we (unfortunately) aren’t in the 80’s… what was she thinking?!
the whole 11 year olds getting bikini waxes thing really pissed me off though. the waxing lady says it’s for HYGIENE purposes? what fucking hygiene purposes? not to be too tmi’y but i’m 30 and i still haven’t even had a UTI or a yeast infection yet (sorry, TMI?)… what other hygienic things could possibly go wrong because of pubes?
i remember when i was 10/11 and first got “hurr down thurr” and summertime would roll around, that’s when it’d be embarrassing – but i learned to wear certain things, certain ways (bathing suits) and honestly, waxing didn’t even come to mind… i don’t even think i knew what waxing was yet!
if a 10 year old kid is butt-hurt over having a lil bit o bush hanging out, too bad. that’s part of life, lol. seriously, what kind of things are kids wearing that it’s like “an issue”? i think perhaps maybe a regular bikini wax on the sides would be okay during junior high school years, just because of the whole social thing as i mentioned before… but 10/11 years olds definitely do not belong doing that. there’s a very thin line between elementary school and junior high school, but it’s there.
as for kids getting facials and their hair done… aren’t facials for cleansing pores and shit? (you can see how girly i really am… not!) i don’t think kids need to worry about that shit until puberty and zits surface… but kids getting chemical treatments to relax their curls? i can’t. when you’re a kid, it’s when you’re hair is in the best shape of your life! between the natural highlighting from the sun because you can play all fucking summer, to not having any hairspray, gel, mousse, burning it with blow-dryers/irons, etc, how could a parent let a kid fuck that up? kid-curls are the BEST! some parents are seriously stupid.
we grow up soon enough.
