queenie halloweenie!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i’m a HUGE fan of the halloween movie series… my mother got my sister and i into these movies from when i was like seven. like, i know every word/sound/whatevers going to happen next… and i know most of the film useless trivia as most halloween fans do, which is why i was surprised when i had no idea that 4, 5 and 6 were all filmed in salt lake city… AND JUST BLOCKS AWAY FROM WHERE I STAY EVERY TIME I VISIT…
i got so. fucking. hyped. when i realized i knew where most of these places are located in reference to landmarks i set for myself, every time that i’m there.
so as soon as i found this out, i started compiling a list of all of these halloween filming location places that i wanted bee to take me while i was there… and she made my little horror nerd dreams come true. (luhh you grrrl<3)
here’s a quick halloween 4 rundown, in case you’ve never seen it: michael myers wakes from a coma, goes back to haddonfield to go after his neice jamie (jamie lee curtis’s daughter) after she’d been adopted by the carruthers family (script says jamie lee curtis’s character, laurie (his sister) was killed). rachel carruthers is the teenage daughter and a main character in the movie. that’s all i’ll say if you haven’t seen it…
annddddddddddddddd :begin horror nerd excitement post:
so it was super surreal to see all of these places because i mean, i have been seeing them on my tv screen for twenty some-odd years… and you would think that living in NYC, where tons of things are filmed, i’d be numb to this kind of a thing, but nope! bee said i was glowing like an idiot when we pulled up to our first stop, which was the second myers house (pictured above, from halloween 5. when we got there, i wasn’t too much in awe because i actually remember seeing this house the first time i visited SLC. i didn’t realize what house i was looking at exactly, but i knew i had seen it before. when we pulled up, i was excited to see that there were pumpkins displayed on the front steps already. they really stood out with the colours of the house being so desaturated.
the house is beautiful and massive, but you can clearly see that it needs work. likeeeeeee, it’s totes falling apart… lol.
[click all smaller pictures for the full size ones! (duh!)]
the second house that we visited was jamie’s adoptive family’s house (the carruthers), which has since been repainted white. (WHY?! sigh.)
the third house that we visited was sheriff meeker’s house. this is where the total slutface kelly seduced brady, rachel’s boyfriend and where a lot of the later half of the movie took place (including the infamous rooftop scenes).
also: please pardon my windblown bangs, but our method of transportation is the funnest little scooter, EVER.
our fourth visit was to jamie’s elementary school. it was kind of hard to decipher where the shots were taken, but all in all, i knew we were on the correct side of the school. here are some shots from there…
our fifth visit was to the memory grove park area. in the movie, this is where the columns are where the white trash bar dudes kill ted hollister (i’m guessing that’s one of their friends?). they shoot the poor guy to death with shot guns (or whatever, i don’t know anything about types of guns, lol).
in the same little area, is where they also filmed when rachel loses jamie and first sees michael myers, and runs away from him in the alleyway. from the screenshot below, you can see where my pictures lined up with that curved concrete curb. she’s standing at the bottom of the little hill even though it doesn’t really look like a hill in the movie screenshot. you can also see where she’s walking straight is where the curb turns in my 3rd thumbnail image.
this image above and the last thumbnail are the same block. you can see the fencing is still the same and sort of lined up in my picture. i didn’t realize until we were back on the scooter, exactly where i was, so i’m glad that i got that picture.
after we left that little area, then we were passing these small parks to the right of us. i realized it was probably the shot above so i started snapping with the front camera so you can see me with the park while i was on the back of the scooter, lol. i can’t believe the streetlights are even still the same!
last but not least, this was our last stop. vincent drug! this is where brady and slutface kelly work and where jamie finds her clown costume (and her scary ass uncle for the first time).
i also didn’t realize it was featured in “the sandlot” until we got there. bee finally clued me in, so even cooler! the store was abandoned and pretty much turned upside down inside. it looked like a total war zone. i didn’t get any pictures of the inside, but bee did. (this interior was not the store used for the movie halloween, as far as i know they only filmed the outside of the store… i’m unsure if they used the interior for the sandlot. creepy, either way.)
