so after all these years, i’ve decided to give up on deodorant. i mean your average drug store, aluminum-filled deodorant…
i am totally not one of those natural, paraben-free, blah blah blah vegan-y hippie people (no offense if you are, i just don’t make this a priority when using/buying things), so i’m not getting preachy about this product. this is just a review/telling you about it, because it’s kind of wonderful… i also enjoy natural stuff when it actually works.
one of my co-workers was telling us that she’s got a subscription to a box – like birchbox – but natural stuff (i forget the name, sorry!). she said she received a sample of primal pit paste, and loved it. i know, the name alone is like ewwww, what?! – but after reading tons of reviews that were mainly positive, i gave it a go. three of us co-workers decided to try it out and purchased small, sample jars. we’re all pretty satisfied with the results so far.
i don’t want to sit here preaching that everyone should jump to do this. i did it because i have never been a wet sweater, i’ve always just been a lil stinker… so i figured this would be a great product for me. i mainly wanted to kick deodorant, because deodorant is ruining all of my white t-shirts. i know that sounds sort of stupid, but i started researching about aluminum linked to health issues, and they seemed to have proven so many of them wrong.
even so, the thought of aluminum “clogging” my sweat ducts so that i can’t perspire freaks me out. that sounds so damn unnatural, and it’s in there, clogging ALL DAY LONG… ew!
SO… i got my little jar last week, but i had an awful cold and i couldn’t smell anything. i was way too paranoid to start it if i couldn’t smell anything, so i waited. i didn’t want to have stink pits in case it didn’t work or something, lol.
i decided between that, and after reading that a bunch of people needed to “deodorant detox”, that i would try to start it over the weekend. luckily for me, i had none of these detoxing symptoms so far. some people said they got rashes, itchy, etc. i’ve had none of that. i have even shaved my armpits and applied it and it didn’t burn or anything.
i think the only drawback so far, is the confusion of what to do when you receive this deodorant. meaning, how and how much you’re supposed to apply it. it’s a small jar of deodorant that looks like a lip balm, or something. they sent a small, wooden stick with it, but i figured that would just be strange to use. i actually just use my finger to apply it. it reminds me of when i use my blistex in the tiny jar… no biggie.
i take a fingertip full, smear it all over, and do it an extra 2/3 times. i like to make sure that i’m spreading it pretty thin, and all over. it reminds me of when i get new a tattoo, and when i apply A&D. i just take a tiny bit and use it as much as possible, in a thin layer. i think everyone is probably different, but 2/3 finger tips full covering the entire area where i can visually see my hair grows in (lol, gross, sorry) is perfect for me. it lasts all day, even though i keep checking it like a total nutcase.
i got the lavender scent, and it honestly does not make you smell like a stank hippie, and reminds me of dr. bronner’s lavender soap (which i use off/on during the year). simply put, it’s like lavender and menthol smelling. it’s not overbearing.
i just got the small sample jar, but i think it’s going to last me a long time.
